Fire Escape Exempt Properties​

This thread is to make it obvious to all citizens and inspectors as to what properties are exempt from the fire escape law. Do understand that properties can fall off this.

In Accordance with the Fire Escape Act the following properties are exempt as of 4/22/2026.

How to lose exemption
The fire escape law states the following.
(i) All building built within the city before the enactment of this bill will be exempt from this requirement exempt such a time as a significant change to the exterior is made by the owner.

The following will be viewed as significant change
- The property is vaulted.
- The property has any paste done that changes even a single block on the outside.
- Any block that is a wall to the building is broken, replaced or removed.
- The property decays to due lack of upkeep.

The following are not to be viewed as a significant change
- Adding decoration to the roof of a structure.
- Adding green energy to the roof of a structure.
