Limit Consecutive Terms in Office​

Preamble:
The office of the Prime Minister is a heavy burden to carry, and so to prevent burnout and ensure fair chance, this Act will create a term limit for the office of the Prime Minister.

1. Short Title
   (a) This bill shall be referred to as the “Sunset Act”.
   (b) This bill was authored by Siege Stormbringer.
   
   
2. Definitions
   (a) “MP” shall be recognized as an acronym for Member of Parliament
   (b) “Term” shall be defined as a full Parliamentary Term meaning the two month lifespan of a government between formation and dissolution.
   
   
3. Two Term Limit Set for the Office of the Prime Minister
   (a) An MP will not be able to be appointed to the role of Prime Minister for more than two consecutive terms.
   (b) Should an MP who has served as Prime Minister for two consecutive terms return to Parliament after at least one term of not serving as Prime Minister, they will be once again eligible to undertake the role of Prime Minister.
   
   
4. Term Fulfilment Requirements
   (a) Should a Prime Minister be unable to fulfill an entire term past the first month in office, whether by stepping down or removal, the terms of this Act shall still be in effect and the time served shall count as a term.
