COMMUNITY PETITIONS TO PARLIAMENT GUIDE
Citizens may petition Parliament to take action on an issue or formally acknowledge it. This guide explains the process under section 15 of the Parliamentary Norms and Procedures Act.Submitting a petition
Create a thread in Petitions and Referendums. Include:- Your name.
- A brief explanation of the issue.
- What you want Parliament to do or acknowledge.
Use a clear thread title, such as "Petition: Improve Public Transportation." You may use this suggested format:
Petitioner: Your name
Issue: Briefly explain the problem or concern.
Request: State what you want Parliament to do or acknowledge.
Within 48 hours after submission, the Speaker must either announce in your thread that signatures are open or identify missing requirements for you to correct.
Signing a petition
After the Speaker opens signatures, citizens have seven days to sign. Reply in the petition’s thread with "Sign," your Minecraft username, and your in-game legal name. For example:Sign
Minecraft username: ExamplePlayer
In-game legal name: John Example
Each citizen may only sign a petition once; duplicate signatures will be discounted. Citizens may also read and comment on petitions.
What happens next
When signing ends, the Speaker must announce the closure and valid signature count in the thread. If the petition receives at least 30 valid citizen signatures, the Speaker must open a parliamentary vote on whether to recognize and address it within 48 hours after signing ends.
If Parliament votes to recognize and address the petition, it must approve a formal response within seven days. The response must state Parliament’s proposed action or explain its decision. The Speaker must publish it in the petition’s thread.
