Mandate for the Isles

Lore

In the context of CityRP's roleplay, this is the starting document of the rulers of Azalea Isles, however there are reformers who wish to implement a new constitution, linked here.

Sovereign Preamble

The sovereign ruler of this esteemed realm, by the grace of divine providence, hereby bestows upon their loyal subjects the gift of governance. May this Constitution serve as a beacon of justice, unity, and progress for generations to come, under the enduring sovereignty of the crown.

Article 2 - Privy Council

Constitution of the Privy Council

There shall be one Privy Council in Azalea Isles, consisting of appointed representatives, who will manage the laws and governance of the country. Their authority shall be derived from the Crown, who will have the authority to appoint and dismiss any number of privy councillors at-will.

Security of the Region

The Privy Council shall be responsible for suppressing insurrections, revolutions, or any type of behaviour that opposes the Crown’s will.

Votes of Council

Supermajority vote shall be two-thirds (2/3), while a simple majority vote shall be above 50%.

Article 3 - Rights and Trials

Legal Rights

All people of Azalea Isles shall be entitled to a trial, and are afforded the following legal rights, subject to limitation by the Crown:

  1. The right to citizenship upon entering the country.
  2. The right to refuse self-incrimination in a court of law.
  3. The right to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure.
  4. The right to protect one-self and property.
  5. The right to self-representation or counsel in a court of law.

Legal Disputes

All legal disputes shall be managed by Judges appointed by the Crown, who will resolve legal disputes, civil matters, and criminal affairs. The courts shall be responsible for adjudicating disputes within Azalea Isles, through rendering verdicts in civil and criminal trials. Civil trials consist of disputes between two parties seeking compensation, while criminal trials consist of government-led charges for a criminal act.
