BY-ELECTION

This is the official thread for the by-election of a vacant seat in the Parliament of Azalea Isles, occurring September 13 - 20, 2026. For information on the position and process of government, refer to the Constitution of Azalea Isles.

The Parliament consists of 9 seats, however this election is only for 1 seat as to fill the vacancy following the departure of an incumbent MP.

In order to run for office, you need to:
  • Be a citizen of Azalea Isles more than one (1) week prior to the electoral period.
  • Have a cumulative playtime of at least twenty-four (24) hours and a monthly playtime of at least ten (10) hours at the time voting opens.
  • Be not convicted of any crimes with adjudicated punishments that disqualify them from public office in accordance with the law.
  • Live in the district they are seeking office in.
If you are running on behalf of a party, please ensure you have the permission of the party to run under their banner.

You may declare by replying to this thread using the following format:

"I, <username or character name>, declare that I will be seeking election to an At-Large seat in Parliament as <an independent or party name>. I sign this declaration from <address>"

e.g. "I, Raymond West, declare that I will be seeking election to an At-Large District seat in Parliament as a member of the Loyalist Party. I sign this declaration from b001" or "I, Raymond West, declare that I will be seeking election to a 1st District seat in Parliament as a member of the Loyalist Party. The following candidates were not included on the ballot due to missing requirements of at least one of the following:
  • Be a citizen of Azalea Isles more than one (1) week prior to the electoral period.
  • Have a cumulative playtime of at least twenty-four (24) hours and a monthly playtime of at least ten (10) hours at the time voting opens.
  • Be not convicted of any crimes with adjudicated punishments that disqualify them from public office in accordance with the law.
  • Live in the district they are seeking office in.
While some candidates did have the monthly playtime of at least 10 hours, they did not have the cumulative (total) playtime of 24 hours.

RESULTS

One vacant seat was up for election, resulting in each voter having a maximum of a single vote to cast. Due to the new technology rolled out, voters who did not meet the minimum requirements were unable to cast their ballot

Thanks for joining us in-game at play.cityrp.org

At-Large District:

Turnout: 22 total voters
Verified Voters: 22 total verified voters
Election Format: Proportional representation. In proportional districts, voters will still vote for candidates, but all votes received by candidates of a party will be totaled up to be that party’s number of votes. That, as a percentage of the total number of votes, will be used for seat allocation. Independents will be treated as one collective party. Once the number of seats each party should receive is determined, the seats each party has won will go to the highest vote getters within that individual party.

Election Calculation:
  • Independent candidates collectively received 100% of the vote (rounded to nearest tenth).
  • As a result of these total party votes, independent candidates collectively are entitled to 1 seats.
  • Since there is only 1 seat up for election, the highest independent candidate won the seat.
